About The Marina

Millstone Marina and RV Resort has a rich history that stretches back to the early days of Lake of the Ozarks. After the completion of Bagnell Dam in 1931, Robert and Catherine Elliot of Kansas City, Missouri, purchased the land from the Pistol Club, a group of Kansas City businessmen. They built their dream home, Elliot Lodge, which would later become known as Millstone Lodge. The lakefront home featured a distinctive stone fireplace incorporating three millstones that Catherine, affectionately known as “Bagnell Kate,” had carried in from the surrounding hills. These millstones are a nod to the region’s early history when clear, running streams powered mills to grind corn.

Shortly after World War II, the Elliots sold the lodge to the Laner family. Following the patriarch’s passing, the property changed hands again and evolved into a commercial venture. In 1989, Dick Walls, the owner of Boone Tavern in Columbia, purchased Millstone and revitalized both the facilities and grounds. Under Mr. Walls’ stewardship, Millstone became one of the most well-known resorts and marinas at Lake of the Ozarks.

Since then, the marina has expanded under various ownerships, steadily growing to more than 200 boat slips. In 2018, development began on the first phase of the RV Park, and by 2024, the final phase was completed, bringing the resort to its current size with over 210 RV pads. Today, Millstone Marina and RV Resort remains a premier destination for lake-goers, continuing to honor its storied past while providing modern amenities and exceptional experiences.
